Message from the Board

Luiz Claudio Galeazzi ’81
President of the Board

The 2020-21 academic year was my eighth and final year as a Board member. Throughout these eight years, I have been able to witness the power of our community.

The past year was a very challenging one for most of us. It started with a global pandemic that persists to this date. COVID-19 has changed how we see and do things. Despite the severe global crisis, exacerbated in Brazil by the country’s geopolitical and economic reality, Graded has been able to both adapt and excel. The school remains fiscally robust, as evidenced by Board Treasurer Gustavo Junqueira’s financial report.

Our Senior Leadership Team, with the support of our community, has modeled exemplary crisis management. Throughout the pandemic, Graded’s steady and clear communication with our community, the authorities, and other stakeholders has been impeccable.

Eleven years ago, Graded launched a Centennial Plan. The execution of this plan was made possible because a group of dedicated members of our Graded community believed in and supported a “dream.” They have worked tirelessly to ensure that Graded thrives for at least another 100 years.

Graded is now in a very good position and can focus on doing what it does best: educating. We have all the necessary tools to lead Graded into the future, as our educators continue to facilitate growth and enhance the educational experience.

Graded is fortunate to have an extraordinary faculty lead by Superintendent Richard Boerner, who will remain with us for another four years. Continuity in leadership will guarantee stability and the successful execution of Graded’s strategic plan.

I would like to thank all of our past and present Board members who have dedicated their time to Graded. Without you, the school would not have reached its centennial anniversary. You are the essence of Graded’s existence, representing and preserving our founding American companies’ spirit and values. I would also like to thank fellow Board members Fabio Coelho and Paige Geiger, who, like me, have served their eight-year terms and are leaving the Board. It has been a fantastic journey. I depart the Board knowing that Graded’s legacy is in very capable hands and will continue flourishing under Board Chair Alex Malfitani’s leadership.

Thank you, Graded community!
